I like to call flexible dieting “flexible eating” because it’s not exactly a diet, but simply monitoring your portions. This is a way of eating that we can sustain for the rest of our lives. You are given a set of calories/macronutrients that you need to reach each day, and it is up to you how you want to hit those macros.

With flexible eating, there is no food shaming, no binging, no guilt, and of course no restrictions, just moderation. Without any restrictions, we are less likely to have a binge day, making flexible eating the better choice in dieting - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Just like every other Crossfitter I fell into the Paleo lifestyle for a while. I wasn't eating any processed carbs, only sweet potatoes and vegetables, and I was eating a lot of protein at every meal coupled with a lot of fat. While on the paleo diet I found myself to be tired and not have the stamina during my workouts that I felt I needed. I was crashing during my workouts and exhausted after a day's training.

When Riki first started flexible diet coaching I asked her if I she could give me some numbers to work with in hopes of getting back to myself. Only two weeks into tracking I could feel a huge difference in my energy levels during the day...

I've been an athlete my whole life since the time I was coherent enough to hold a toy football. I've played soccer, basketball, football, baseball and have even trained in Muay Thai as well as dance. You'd think that for somebody so active that I'd of had the physique to match. However, that was never the case. Eating "properly" was always so difficult for me figure out/stick with (major sweet tooth).

As I discovered weightlifting and eventually Crossfit, my desire to get the body weight down while still maintaining and even gaining strength grew to the point where I was willing to try just about anything. Thankfully, I was introduced to Riki...

I started working with Riki when I was about 3 months pregnant. With my first pregnancy I gained about 40 pounds and I just didn't feel great. The second time around I had already gained 10 pounds the first 3 months and I just couldn't go down that road again. After discussing the plan with my doctors and getting approval I decided to start working with Riki. It was the best decision I made! She worked with me on a reverse diet and it completely changed my pregnancy. Each week I weighed in and we discussed how I was feeling and added macros accordingly. I started feeling so much better and because of Riki and flexible dieting I am happy to say...
